Season Update from Chamonix

2nd Feb 2012

It's been a busy couple of weeks for me with visits to a few different resorts.  2 weeks ago I was in Courchevel working for BASI on a European Mountain Safety training course.  This is a course that all instructors coming through the BASI system need to do in order to complete their level 4.

Then it was off to Scotland for a few days, before returning to the Alps to work in Villars on the annual Hiscox ski trip.  This was an excellent weekend with the race on the final day proving to be as exciting as ever.  It's a great opportunity for skiers of all standards to be able to ski through gates and get that same buzz that the racers get.  Most are quite aprehensive about it beforehand but when they get to the bottom normally say "Can I do that again?"

I have been back in Chamonix this week running our "Chamonix Off-Piste and Ski Mountain Skills" in conjunction with Rob Jarvis. The conditions for the course have been superb.  It's true what they say about the volume of snow we have here this season.  I have never seen so much in my life time.  The group have enjoyed fresh tracks at Les Grands Montets, Combloux, Le Tour and St Gervais.  Tomorrow is the final day of the course and the group will be out with both Rob and I so they can get some top tips whilst descending down the Vallee Blanche.

This is the availability that I still have over the coming weeks -

Ski Performance for Mountaineers 13th - 17th Feb: 3 spaces

Chamonix Off-Piste and Ski Mountain Skills 27th Feb - 2nd Mar: 3 spaces
