Eagle Ski Club

24th Jan 2013

It's been great to ski with members of the Eagle Ski Club again.  The Eagle Ski Club is the UK's largest and most active ski touring club.  The club organises a wide range of tours with something to suit all abilities.  It's a fantastic club to be involved with.

I have been working with members of the club on improving their off-piste skiing so that they can get more enjoyment from their tours.  This comes from being more efficient but also from being able to ski difficult snow well - honestly it can be done!

Conditions for the week have been excellent.  On Tuesday we were able to find fantastic powder in the magic forest at Les Grands Montets and in the afternoon member's of the group ventured down the Chapeau Couloir reporting that conditions were superb.  On Wednesday we found the "difficult" snow that we might not choose to search out but the groups wanted to practice it for when they come across it on a tour.  Today we were back at Les Grands Montets enjoying the snow that had been well preserved on the shady side of the valley.

A highlight for me was when one of the group turned up with banana skins attached to his poles to help remind him of the "banana" shape he needed to make with his body!

We enjoyed having Lukasz Warzecha with us for the first couple of days to take some fantastic skiing images.
