Chamonix Ski Weekend Forecast
6th Jan 2012
It's been another stormy week. I am not sure where we are going to put all this snow that keeps coming down. When my landlady told me she was just buying a season pass just for Les Houches this year I wasn't convinced. But I now think she must have had access to some long range forecast as it seems like a great idea with the conditions that we have had recently! I think I have spent more days there this season than I have during the past 5 years. With strong winds forecast again for the weekend that's where I'll be heading. It is superb to have somewhere in the Chamonix Valley that we know will open. There will be no need to wait at the bottom for "next information" meaning that you can get the most out of your time. The roads will also be easier than driving further up the valley.
The pistes are in good condition at the moment and the lifts are quick meaning you can get plenty of skiing in. Why not have a run on the Kandahar to see what the World Cup racers will be skiing on 4th / 5th Feb?
If you fancy venturing further afield we had a lovely day at Praz de Lys today. It takes just over an hour to get there from Chamonix. Although it's a small resort, it is quiet and sheltered from the wind. Very few people ski off piste there meaning there are plenty of fresh tracks to be had. We had the slopes to ourselves there today. Well worth a visit.
