Best thing about skiing in Zermatt? Coffee in Italy
I've just returned from 4 days skiing in Zermatt with Ken, Di, Drew and Steve. This is the 2nd year I've skied with them and each time we've been lucky to get excellent early season snow, good weather, quiet pistes and untracked powder. Steve and Ken are putting in plenty of downhill practice so that they can get the most from their ski touring trip in March. I think by the end of this holiday they will have done over 30,000m of descent.
Whilst the skiing was excellent, one of the highlights (as it was last year) was going to Refugio del Teodulo for excellent value Italian pasta, coffee and cake. We were given a particularly warm welcome this year as they hadn't seen anyone for 4 days because of the bad weather over the previous days!
