The Off Piste Performance Team
7th Nov 2018
With the first snow having arrived to valley level in Scotland, Chamonix and Norway, we are beginning to get excited for the forth-coming winter.
There are a few changes ahead this coming season at Off Piste Performance. Here’s a brief update and an introduction to all of the team.
Many of you will already know that Alison and James are expecting a baby during the winter. All being well, Alison plans to be working and delivering courses up until the end of January and after that she will be on maternity leave. She is already taking bookings for private lessons for 2020 so do get in touch if you’d like something penciled in.
The rest of the Off Piste Performance team will be hard at work throughout the whole winter. For the 6th year running, Alison’s sister, Gillian, will be running our Ski Performance Scotland courses. Gillian will also be joining us in Arctic Norway, working in Lofoten, Oldervik and on Kvaløya.
James will be working alongside Kenny Grant and Andy Nelson on our Off Piste Rover courses in Gressoney and La Grave. For those who are interested, we still have one place remaining on our Gressoney course.
The popular Ski Performance for Mountaineers courses will be running as normal. All of Alison’s groups are now full, but we have some spaces available throughout the season with Derek and Shona Tate, and Fred Dibblee.
We have a long-standing relationship working in conjunction with BASS Chamonix and are delighted that Derek has been able to cover Alison on our Chamonix Off-Piste & Mountain Skills courses. He will be working alongside IFMGA Mountain Guide Rob Jarvis. We are pleased to welcome back Blair Aitken and Mark Chadwick to work on our April courses.
Come April and our thoughts will turn to Arctic Norway. Firstly James will be leading an exploratory trip to the isolated island of Arnøya. We hope that this will become part of our main-stream programme in 2020. George Reid will be working with us for the duration of our programme, not only share his ski and guiding expertise, but to teach us all a thing or two about the environment that we are skiing in. If you want to spot a Sea Eagle, ski near George! We are delighted that Rupert and Fran will be joining us again to take care of the catering, and we also will be welcoming Elle to this team in Lofoten.
We look forward to having BASI ISTD Izzy Milne as part of the instructional team for Norway. We know that some of our guests have skied with Izzy before and are delighted that she can join us. We have no doubt that she will be able to bring out the best in everyone's skiing (including the IFMGA Mountain Guides!). We have once again had significant demand for our Arctic Norway trips, and have added a further trip to the Lofoten Islands with IFMGA Mountain Guide Jonny Baird.
Not wanting to miss out, Alison and the little one will hopefully be joining our team in Arctic Norway.
